1. Why do the courtiers (দৰবাৰী) call the prince ‘the Happy Prince’? Is he really happy? What does he see all around?
দৰবাৰীসকলে ৰাজকুমাৰক কিয় ‘সুখী ৰাজকুমাৰ’ বুলি কয়? সঁচাকৈয়ে তেওঁ সুখী নেকি? সি চাৰিওফালে কি দেখিছে ?
Ans: – Ans: The Prince was quite happy when he was alive. Sorrow could not touch the Prince during his life time. He spent his life happily. So, the courtiers call the prince ‘the Happy Prince’.
After the death of the happy prince, a statue has been made in honour of him and placed on a tall column of the city so that he can see the ugliness (কুৎসিততা) and misery (দুখ) of the city people. So he is not happy there.
From the tall column of the city, the prince can see the ugliness and misery of the city people. The sight makes him unhappy and weep for the sufferers

Ans: The Prince sees that the little boy of the seamstress is lying ill on the bed. His mother has nothing to give his hungry child as food but river water. So, the Prince sends a ruby through the swallow to her who is sewing the maid’s (দাসী) gown.
The swallow picks up the ruby from the hilt of the sword (তৰোৱাল) of the Prince and flew over the city and places it near the thimble (কাপোৰ চিলাই কৰোতে আঙ্গুলিৰ মূৰত পিন্ধা ধাতুৰ খাপ) of the lady tailor. He also fans the ill boy with his wings and then returns to the Prince.

3. For whom does the Prince send the sapphires (মূল্যবান মনি) and why?

Ans. The Prince sends the sapphire to the young playwright who becomes unable to write his play because of extreme cold and hunger that makes him faint. He has no money to buy food and fire-wood to warm (উষ্ণ) himself up.
The Prince sends another sapphire to the match girl whose matches have fallen into the gutter (নালা). Her father will beat her. So, to save the girl, the Prince sends the swallow with a sapphire for the girl.

Ans. The Prince has become blind as the sapphires have been plucked out from his eyes. In such a miserable (অতি বেয়া অবস্থা) condition, the swallow could not leave the Prince alone. He felt pity for the Prince. So, he decided to stay with the Prince for good.
